More on Government Waste
Mark Steyn has a good idea, let's give each family affected by the hurricanes $400,000 cash instead of funneling it through sloppy channels. Sounds good to me. If they blow it all, so what? If they use it to better their station in life, so much the better. I'm afraid that the only ones that will be better-off after the government gives hundreds of millions of dollars away, will be people who were pretty well-off already. Casino owners, oil people, contractors with government connections, etc.

Sinuses are the pitts. You strive and strive to breathe, all the while wondering WHY you are trying to breathe when your head feels like someone stuffed dynomite all over everywhere and it's lit, and it's threatening to explode. So you take pills to allieviate the pressure and pain. What does it do? Nothing. You can maybe breathe a little better, it might open up one nostril, but the other one is hopelessly plugged, you head is throbbing and now your stomache is upset by the pills. You try to sleep. Sleep is the cure! Let's go to sleep! Unfortunately, sleep is kept at bay by your inablility to breathe AND the pounding pressure that gets worse when you try to go horizontal. You turn left. The right side of your head is slowly starting to clear. Hooray!!! Suddenly, you feel as if the whole left side of your head has seperated itself from the rest of your body, but at the same time, realize it hasn't as the pounding, pulsating pain is doubled on just that one side of your head. You turn right. Unfortunately, the same thing happens. It's not just mild pain. You feel it from your temples to your jaw, which has been clenched so hard that now it is throbbing. More pills, hoping if you take enough they will work. You feel woozy. Try to lay back down before you fall down, the stuffy feeling inside your head intensifies to unbelievable proportions. You start to caugh, drooling at the mouth a little bit as insanity slowly begins to take over. Eyes are bloodshot and glassy from lack of sleep and OD-ing on sinus pills. Fingers are permenantly curled into fists, and jaw is still throbbing from grinding your teeth together in pain. The good news is, this situation is only temporary. It WILL go away. I swear. But as I am in Day 3 of this terrible situation, the more I tell myself this, the less I believe myself. Sadly, if you go to a doctor, like my husband keeps pushing me to do, all they can do is give you stronger pills that really don't do much of anything. Make you feel like you don't care how bad you feel. Drooling is intensified, and sleep is in no way going to happen, as the more drugs you take, the more hyped up and jumpy you become. You go back to the doctor to get sleeping pills so you can sleep, and before too long it becomes a vicious circle. You come out of this red-eyed, pale, sore, swollen, uncomfortable, and seriously hungry. (remember, you can't breathe through your nose, so eating is out of the question.) Today, I can finally breathe, however the pressure is still there. Needless to say, I have chili cooking in the crock pot since last night and am ready to go home and have dinner.
